Classroom Environment
In my 7th-grade math classroom, I create a welcoming and inclusive environment where all students feel a sense of belonging. The physical layout supports partner work, small group instruction, and independent tasks, featuring two smart boards for parallel teaching. I engage students with interactive lessons that utilize hands-on activities, manipulatives, and technology, connecting math concepts to real-world applications. My classroom is resource-rich, with differentiated materials to cater to diverse learning styles. By fostering a supportive atmosphere that celebrates growth and encourages risk-taking, I empower my students to embrace challenges and develop a positive attitude toward mathematics.
Observation Reports
I have gathered my observation reports, which highlight my ongoing development as an educator. Feedback is a vital component of professional growth, providing me with valuable insights that guide my practice and help me refine my teaching strategies. By embracing this feedback, I am able to create a more effective and supportive learning environment for my students.
Over the years, I have maintained a Teacher Practice (MOTP) Rating of Effective and a Student Learning (MOSL) Rating of Effective, while my Observation Average has steadily increased: Year 1 was 2.65, Year 2 was 2.78, Year 3 was 2.96, and now, in Year 4, I’ve reached 3.00. Of all my growth, I am most proud of my improvement in domain 3b: Using questioning and discussion techniques. This area is particularly important to me because it fosters deeper engagement and critical thinking among my students, encouraging them to express their thoughts freely and collaborate in discussions. As I continue to refine my questioning techniques, I aim to create an inclusive atmosphere where every student feels valued, which ultimately enhances their understanding and confidence. Witnessing their growth in critical thinking and communication skills is incredibly rewarding.
